Digital Isle of Man hires Chris Kissack as Head of Esports

Digital Isle of Man, an agency within the Department of Enterprise for the Isle of Man, has appointed its Head of Esports in Chris Kissack.

Starting on August 3rd, he will work towards launching an esports proposition for the island.

Prior to joining the government, Kissack held the position of Esports Specialist at Amber Gaming, a company that offers corporate services, accounting, regulatory compliance, and licensing in gaming and esports.

Lyle Wraxall, CEO of Digital Isle of Man, spoke on the hire in a release: “I am very pleased to welcome Chris to our team. It was vital that we found the right candidate to drive forward this new, exciting venture for the Island, and Chris’ experience in the sector, expert knowledge, and enthusiasm for our esports proposition made him a perfect fit for the role.”

Kissack built up experience in IT and computing, operations, sales, and marketing over the past two decades before beginning full-time work in esports in August 2019.

Kissack commented on the venture: “I am looking forward to continuing my work in raising the Island’s profile within the esports space. My time at Amber has been a very positive experience and I’m very grateful to both Ted and the team for giving me the opportunity to help them create the Island’s first dedicated service offerings for the esports industry.

It’s interesting to see the Isle of Man Government taking esports more seriously with this newly-created role, especially considering it has plenty of incentives for esports companies that would be open to making the move. Will this open the floodgates in terms of esports activity on the island? We’ll have to wait and see, but Kissack’s experience and contacts will certainly help get things off the ground.
